Seyhan Civanlar Ph.D.
Dr. Civanlar is the VP Research & Development for
Argela Technologies, the leading Turkish telecom service
provider. She is formerly Founding CEO and & CTO
of Lemur Networks, an enabling IP Services platform startup. She was previously
at Coreon, a Kleiner Perkins backed startup, where she
was Vice President of Internet Technology. There, she
oversaw the development of state-of-the-art IP based
network solutions and services such as Voice over IP
and Virtual Private Networks for Coreon's clients. She
brings more than a decade of data networking, Internet
technology, and application platform development experience
to Equip's Advisory Board.
Prior to joining Coreon, as a Division Manager in AT&T's
Internet Technology and Lab Architecture Units, she was
responsible for the delivery of several network-facing
IP platform components, including Quality of Service,
Multi Protocol Label Switching, call control and content
distribution. Before that, Dr. Civanlar directed the
design and development of AT&T's OC48 Worldnet IP
Backbone. In 1997, she was instrumental in the creation
of one of AT&T's flagship offerings, Managed Internet
Service. During the course of her career, Dr. Civanlar
also held several technical and management positions
within AT&T Bell Laboratories. She holds 16 patents
and is a frequently published technical expert on networking
topics. She has been an active contributor to the ATM
Forum working groups LAN Emulation and MultiProtocol
over ATM. She also served as chairperson at a number
of international networking conferences.
Dr. Civanlar earned both her Bachelor's and Master's
degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the
Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. She
completed her Doctorate in Electrical and Computer Engineering
at North Carolina State University.
