Ken Marshall
Mr. Marshall is an experienced software industry executive
and CEO with a significant track record. He is currently
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Extraprise, Inc.,
a technology services company specializing in customer
relationship management. Mr. Marshall founded Extraprise
with three partners in 1997, and raised $63 million in
venture capital to drive Extraprise's impressive growth.
Initially focused on the North American market, Mr. Marshall
expanded Extraprise into the United Kingdom with the
acquisition of two London-based services firms in 1999.
Over the following year, the Extraprise's European business
grew to produce forty percent of the firm's revenues.
Extraprise was an early implementation partner of Siebel
Systems, and soon was recognized as a leader in the deployment
of Siebel's sales force automation and customer relationship
management solutions, with more than 130 Siebel clients
around the world.
Prior to Extraprise, Mr. Marshall was President and
Chief Operating Officer and a member of the board of
Giga Information Group, a technology research and consulting
firm. He joined Giga in 1995. In this role, he was responsible
for the day-to-day operations of the business and the
development of an infrastructure to support a predictable,
profitable and sustainable business model. He led the
downsizing and restructuring of a major acquisition,
rebuilt the senior management team and reorganized the
company around product and functional lines. Mr. Marshall
also built a North American and European direct sales
organization of 65 sales, sales management and support
personnel. In April 1996, he launched the new Giga Advisory
service and Gigaweb electronic delivery systems.
Mr. Marshall served as President and Chief Executive
Officer and member of the board of Object Design, Inc.
from 1990 to 1995. Object Design is now trading under
the name Excelon Corporation. During his tenure, Inc.
ranked Object Design first in its annual "Inc. 500" listing
of the fastest growing private companies in the United
States. Object Design grew considerably under Mr. Marshall's
direction, from 15 people and one location to more than
270 employees worldwide, with 11 United States offices
in 5 international subsidiaries. He raised $35 million
in venture capital to fuel this growth.
From 1985 to 1989, Mr. Marshall held various management
roles at Oracle Systems Corporation. He joined the company
as District Sales Manager for New England, opening Oracle's
first office in the region. As Vice President of Professional
Services, Mr. Marshall established Oracle's United States
consulting organization, generating $7 million in revenues
in the first year and $57 million in its third year.
Additionally, Mr. Marshall took on the role of Board
Member, Oracle Complex Systems, a systems integration
subsidiary chartered with establishing Oracle's presence
in the systems integration market. In 1988, Mr. Marshall
was named Group Vice President, East Operations, an operation
with a headcount of 700 across 30 offices, and revenues
of $150 million. He led the acquisition of Falcon Systems
in 1989, which contributed $30 million to Oracle Systems
in its first year of operations.
Mr. Marshall holds an MA in economics from Boston College
and a BS in education from Northeastern University. He
is an outside director of Actuate, Inc. (NASDAQ: ACTU)
and Current Analysis.
